Review: Sweet Little Lies

Image
Sweet Little Lies by Abbi Glines My rating: 5 of 5 stars I really liked this one more than the first in the Sweet Series. The last book allowed more of the connecting build up between Stone and Beulah which is what I felt was laking between her and Jasper in the first. Their insta-love seemed sweet and intense but their quick burn out proved the depth. The intensity trippled and the sexual tension was cranked up in this book. Not to mention the different sexual relationship Stone brought out in Beaulah because she felt more of a confident comfortable connection. Up until the perspective switch, I was following along but that turning point really pulled me in and had me wanting to power read to the finish. These cliff hangers are what is killing me/marking my calendar for the next book/starting a desperate to continue countdown to the next chapter in Beulah’s story. Stone’s hard exterior has cracked and his intentions towards Beulah are coming out. Ja...

Review: Hideaway

Image
Hideaway by Penelope Douglas My rating: 5 of 5 stars AMAZING! This one was well worth the wait. Storyline is pulls you in from start to finish. You really see into another side of the Horsemen. Kai may seem like the sweet one, but he has some dark secrets and thrives off the hunt. He may not understand the connection and unconditional loyalty Banks has towards Damon, but Kai isn’t going to let her go this time without a fight. Banks grew up in a different world, one where Love was scarce and she had to cling to the only source of it she received, even if it was possessive, dark and misunderstood. Working her way up in the family and proving her worth seems endless; it doesn’t matter how hard she tries or how much she tries to disguise herself, she’s still just a woman. Facing Kai is only part of the battle; if he asks her to choose a side, it will always be Damon. No one has seen Damon since the incident a year ago, but they know he’s close; they ju...

Review: Where You Are

Image
Where You Are by Tammara Webber My rating: 4 of 5 stars It was interesting to shift the perspective between the four perspectives of Emma, Graham, Reid and Brooke. I liked the story line and was happy about the character's connection. It was daintily drama filled and full of manipulation. Emma and Graham have finally made their feelings known and are excited for a potential future together. Graham is graduating soon and Emma has decided to go to college in New York. Now that they communicated their feelings, their isn't much holding them back, except Emma having to go along with a pretend relationship with Reid. Brooke is tired of being in the friend zone, and she's willing to do anything to get Graham to see her in another way, even if that means working with Reid. Reid may not believe in love, but Emma was someone he hasn't gotten out of his head, even if it's predominately physical desire, or so he thinks. He has a second chanc...

Review: Sweet

Sweet by Tammara Webber My rating: 4 of 5 stars "Truth knows how to say I dare you and make you take notice, even if you’d rather disown it and remain insulated and safe." Boyce seems to be the guy not afraid to take risks, and he isn't, except when it comes to Pearl. Although it may shock many, their friendship started as kids and although never pursued in public, neither can shake their old time crushes. If only one of them was brave enough to admit the superficial banter runs a lot deeper and is more truth than joke. Pearl had always planned on becoming a doctor, but when it came time to accept a doctorate program, she followed her heart and chose a different path, estranging her from her now ex boyfriend and family. With nowhere to turn to, Pearl turns to her best friend, Boyce. But living together, even temporarily, is sparking up an old flame. Some of my fav lines ... (view spoiler) [ “I’m gonna kiss you. Review: Safe Bet

Image
Safe Bet by Monica Murphy My rating: 5 of 5 stars I loved how fun and drawn to each other Syd and Wade were and I was dying for a book for both of them in each of their series so i was really excited to see that they were coming together for this book! My only complaint is that I wish there was more! I wanted to see their relationship develop more and watch them grow. It was definitely cut short. View all my reviews

Review: The Rules Bundle

Image
The Rules Bundle by Monica Murphy My rating: 4 of 5 stars All the books had the bad boy chasing after the good girl. They couldn't help fall for the girl that constantly turned them down. Very hot "scandalous" scenes and banter gets you interested and keeps you reading. Already preordered the fourth book! View all my reviews

Review: Collared

Image
Collared by Nicole Williams My rating: 5 of 5 stars Amazing Book!! Jade and Torrin are the makings of a beautiful love story until it all goes wrong. After being kidnapped and held for 10 years Jade has to start over. But it's not just Jade that was effected, her parents and siblings don't know how to act around her. She was taken as seventeen kid and returned at 27 year old adult. The only person who acts normal around her is Torrin. But it's not as easy as just started where she left off with everyone. Jade has to find a way to navigate this new life. My heart goes out to Jade for her experiences and Torrin for never giving up the love of his life. Since I'm a hopeless romantic, I wish there was another book because I want more from Torrin and Jade... but I'll let my imagination fill in the blanks. Nicole Williams is an amazing author that doesn't stray away from hard situations. She makes sure each character is developed a...

Review: Three Brothers

Image
Three Brothers by Nicole Williams My rating: 4 of 5 stars Emotional Rollercoaster is the only way to describe this book. Chance's feelings were pretty obvious from the beginning. I questioned throughout the book why no one thought to ask why John was the one Scout was shipped off to when her mom passed. I felt bad for Conn's self destructive behavior that became a virus to everyone around him and ultimately himself. My heart went out to Chase who seemed to have gotten the short end of every stick. Out of everyone, I don't know how he could take on more death when he already lost so much so recently. The last 50 - 80 pages is where everything turned and while I should have expected it with Nicole Williams' books by now... it caught me WAY off guard! Shifting in my seat and cringes aside.... it was an interesting read! View all my reviews

Review: Heart & Soul

Image
Heart & Soul by Nicole Williams My rating: 5 of 5 stars It took me a couple hours after purchasing this book to start. I knew from the description that this book was going to break my heart and I just couldn't handle it yet after all the happiness that ended in the fourth book and the possibility that maybe one of the books in the series had a possibility of a sad ending. This book was different from all the others in the series for me. Rather than having constant highs and lows, where the lows were propelled up with happiness, the constant stress and hardship and worry that Jesse felt was a tornado of down. They both worry so much about each other being okay that you just wish they would overcome it from the beginning. Although not everyone feels the same based on the reviews I had seen before starting, I appreciated the stepping back to when Rowen and Jessie found out about the pregnancy. When I read it in the 4th book, I felt a little rob...

Review: Losers Weepers

Image
Losers Weepers by Nicole Williams My rating: 5 of 5 stars I can say, I honestly hoped that after the beginning threw me... (definitely was not expecting the plot based on the book description)... I was hoping it would turn out the way it did. My heart sank so many times, I had to take breaks in between reading. But this book was worth the heartbreak. If you have read Nicole Williams books then you know she has a style when it comes to the character development and the storyline. This book came out with a big bang but after that fell into her stylized writing. Ups and downs but love should always conquer all. There are some scenes that will make you blush... (view spoiler) [ Holy H the shower scene... (hide spoiler) ] there are scenes that will make your heart feel likes it's breaking or about to burst out of your chest. Review: Finders Keepers

Image
Finders Keepers by Nicole Williams My rating: 5 of 5 stars You just had to know from reading bits and pieces from the previous books that there was way more to Garth and Josie then they made it seem. I was dying to know how that night played out since book one and I finally got my fix! I LOVE the way Nicole Williams brings such fire and intensity to all of her characters in all of her books. She knows how to reel you in and keep you hooked. The banter and heat between them radiates off from the start "You call the sex we had a mistake? Because the first word that comes to mind is mind-blowing... The kind of sex that makes a man keep his fingers crossed for an encore production". I don't know how they could have staying away from each other so long, their pull to each other is so obvious. (view spoiler) [ On a sad note, Garth's dad was tragic but I couldn't really see a positive outcome coming after all the abuse after so long. ...

Review: Near and Far

Image
Near and Far by Nicole Williams My rating: 5 of 5 stars The love story continues and I couldn't stop reading until I went from cover to cover. Jessie's past made me cringe and although I needed a break, my pull and connection to Jessie and Rowen kept me going. As Jessie battles his past demons that crept their way back in, I constantly wanted to call him a hypocrite (view spoiler) [ and was frustrated it took so long for him to talk about his past and move on from it. (hide spoiler) ] Once again this series made me blush cringe and tear up for the good and bad - highs and lows. The best kind of love story is one that makes you feel you were apart of the story, in the characters head and feeling what they feel. Nicole Williams did that for me. I appreciated the altering perspectives between Jessie and Rowen that allowed me to feel more attached to each of them. I will always root for them. (view spoiler) [PS Jolene's and Jax's intent...

Review: Until Friday Night

Image
Until Friday Night by Abbi Glines My rating: 5 of 5 stars Amazing book! I felt so connected and emotionally pulled toward the characters. Dealing with the loss of loved ones is extremely difficult. Having to watch someone slowly pass from cancer is tough and having someone taken from your life suddenly, are both hardships that are near unbearable. Abbi Glines did an amazing job at connecting the reader to the characters. This was definitely a tear jerker for me and I appreciated her talking about subjects that are difficult for many to even mention, let alone dive into and allow you to feel better coming out the other end. (view spoiler) [ I think it was important that she had Maggie stand up against possessive behavior. Too often, I feel like the possessiveness of people can seem loving and exciting, but it's important to know the boundaries. Yeah, a guy being straightforward and making sure everyone knows your his can be sexy, but it doesn'...

Review: Lost & Found

Image
Lost & Found by Nicole Williams My rating: 5 of 5 stars In love with this series already... I mean who can resist a good cowboy and a bad city girl?! My heart melted over their love story and although I was frustrated every step of the way with Rowen's push back, I understood why she felt she had to before she explained what made her the way she is. The tension between them is irresistible and you can't help but root for them every step of the way! View all my reviews

Review: Crash

Image
Crash by Nicole Williams My rating: 5 of 5 stars I felt such an intense pull to the characters that I could not stop reading! Literally finished the book in less than 24 hours... I wish it would have divulged more about Lucy's background and the tragedy with her brother in little bits throughout the book instead. I loved her drive and her need to get lost in dance. It was very relatable and her personality was very developed and made me feel connected to her. I am not a huge fan of Jude's over protective behavior. Sometimes it scared me or made me not want him and Lucy to be together. I think too often overprotective aggressive actions are passed off as being okay and it really turned me off to Jude. I wanted to understand why he was that way and I got it by the end. I was constantly frustrated with his bull about not being good enough and it made me pull towards Lucy more in agreeing that he needed to get over his past and head towards the ...

Review: Such a Rush

Image
Such a Rush by Jennifer Echols My rating: 4 of 5 stars Beginning was slow for me, got interested during the middle. Didn't really care for the characters at first but by the end I understood and appreciated them more. Towards the end, I felt a pull of intensity and I really enjoyed the end of this book where as other books I felt ended too soon. I would definitely read more if it became a series! Like some of the other reviews, I did find some of the judgments of characters irritating ( Grayson's comments about Leah and his father) and I thought it was a little weird that she was so quick to forgive for thinking it would be a legitimate scenario.(or Molly allowing her friends to be so rude yet one talk fixed it all) But more power to her for rising above it I guess. Review: Forget You

Image
Forget You by Jennifer Echols My rating: 5 of 5 stars You can now officially call me a big fan of Jennifer Echols. (If you couldn't tell by my binge reading of her books) I really enjoyed Going Too Far and wasn't sure another one of her books was going to top it. This definitely made it a tie because I love them both. Just like Going Too Far, this book felt real. It touched on real topics and situations that happen to many young adults. Her dad's an ass, and I really couldn't stand his personality and I hated how he viewed mental illness. I liked that it was encouraged by the end that it's not taboo to talk to someone about having a mental related problem. It doesn't shy away from talking about sex (not that it goes crazy) and I liked the intensity that rose between Zoey and Doug. Doug is the bad boy who's really not that bad at all which was fun to read. A couple of the scenes confused me in the best way possible, feeling...

Review: Going Too Far

Image
Going Too Far by Jennifer Echols My rating: 5 of 5 stars Starting out reading the Superlatives book series, I was interested in reading more from Jennifer Echols. I have now worked my way through a couple of her books and I didn't think I was going to like anything as much as the first series I read, but after reading Going Too Far, this book has definitely topped the charts for me. The tension and banter back and forth between John and Meg kept me going and interested. The development of the characters and their intense backgrounds kept you guessing and wanting to know more with little hints throughout until you finally knew why each of them are the way they are. Review: Most Likely to Succeed

Image
Most Likely to Succeed by Jennifer Echols My rating: 4 of 5 stars For the series as a whole... I enjoyed reading each of the books. Lately the books I have read go back in forth with the guy and girl main character's perspective for each chapter and I do kind of wish the author did the same thing. I think it would have given the extra 100 pages I was craving to read. As I finished each book, I had the same feeling, I wish it didn't end here. I wanted more about the characters. I do have to say though, it was that feeling of wanting to know more about the characters that got me to read the sneak peaks at the end of each book and ultimately got me to read the whole series. Side note, I think this series mashed into one would make a great movie! View all my reviews

Review: Pushing the Limits

Image
Pushing the Limits by Katie McGarry My rating: 5 of 5 stars I've read a lot of good books lately but this one topped the charts for me for one of my all time favorites. I felt so emotionally attached, even cried towards the end and I thought it would have been with Echo but it was Noah's journey that finally cracked me. Both main characters faced so much tragedy at a young age that your heart aches for them as you go deeper in to the story. I almost wish there was a pre novella so that you can see what it was like for both of them before each of their tragedies and until they found each other. This was a powerful book for me that didn't shy aware from problems. This book touched on so many important issues that many people face, it can be overwhelming since most people only deal with one or two of the problems, let alone all of them together. Social Anxiety, Abuse, Death, Friendship, Love, Loyalty, Family, Guilt, Mental Disorder, Facing R...
