Review: Ruin

Ruin by Rachel Van Dyken My rating: 5 of 5 stars So I start reading and I'm thinking... "Okay, I could like this book." ... Chapter 2 comes "huh this could be good". I was interested in the next couple chapters, they lead me into thinking the story is going one way. Nothing crazy happens so I could see how someone might underestimate it. Then comes Wes' perspective and I have that instant sinking feeling.... Crap... My book world shifts because I realize I just got myself into one of THOSE books... and I'm already invested in the characters... so now I just have to grin and bare the emotional tornado that was coming my way. And boy did the emotions come. (FYI high potential for ugly crying) The synopsis doesn't do this book justice. Maybe that's why it packed such a punch. I wasn't expecting the storyline and then just like Wes and Kiersten, looking back on the book as a whole, once I started, I was too con...

Review: Fraternize

Fraternize by Rachel Van Dyken My rating: 5 of 5 stars I read another book by Rachel Van Dyken and was a little disappointed after the hype and recommendations since I loved a couple similar authors. But then I thought about how many amazing books I've read by different authors and how I may not have like one book but that didn't take away the fact that the same author wrote a book that is in my top favorites. So I chose this one to see if I would like it better.... and I was not disappointed.... by a long shot. I was hooked with the storyline and characters from page one. I had that feeling, you know the one you get when you find one book and after only a couple paragraphs, you know it's going to be a favorite... I had it bad. I think a huge factor was how much I related to Emerson... practically instantaneously. She's so real and down to earth. I understood how she felt about her body. Being a curvy girl myself, I had similar though...

Review: An Eye for an Eye: Zach & Katie's Story

An Eye for an Eye: Zach & Katie's Story by Lynda Chance My rating: 3 of 5 stars Not what I was really looking for or expecting but still good overall. I have to say, this made me not like Zach very much. He was too possessive and aggressive and quick to attack. It was a repeated case of him taking out his insecurities on Katie. I wish her story would have some to light sooner, rather than almost at the end. It made it harder for me to appreciate the change and difference. I understand why his negative characteristics came out when he was being rejected. I just think that if he really was as interested in Katie as he was thinking, then he would have asked around about her or at least googled her... When Zach's sweet side mixed with the possessive need for Katie came to play, I finally warmed up to him. View all my reviews
