Review: Ruin
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
So I start reading and I'm thinking... "Okay, I could like this book." ... Chapter 2 comes "huh this could be good". I was interested in the next couple chapters, they lead me into thinking the story is going one way. Nothing crazy happens so I could see how someone might underestimate it.
Then comes Wes' perspective and I have that instant sinking feeling.... Crap... My book world shifts because I realize I just got myself into one of THOSE books... and I'm already invested in the characters... so now I just have to grin and bare the emotional tornado that was coming my way.
And boy did the emotions come. (FYI high potential for ugly crying)
The synopsis doesn't do this book justice. Maybe that's why it packed such a punch. I wasn't expecting the storyline and then just like Wes and Kiersten, looking back on the book as a whole, once I started, I was too connected to do anything but read until the end.
I think it is important to know that this book does involve some sensitive topics regarding illness, death and depression. Besides the epilogue, the adult content revolves around those topics. But it had a lot of great life lessons throughout.
