Review: Nuclear Heat

Nuclear Heat Nuclear Heat by Jordyn White
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

FINALLYYYYY!!! This was definitely a hot fun read!
I like how the transformation in their relationship happened and it made sense rather than just waking up and BOOM feelings. White didn't avoid the obvious commitment issues and the actions made sense with each of their personalities. While anyone else wouldn't have been able to read Sam and what she needed, Jack knows her better than anyone and was able to read her and settle her nerves allowing them to grow closer quicker. I liked getting to know the missing pieces in Sam's background that contribute to her personality. Jack was the perfect missing piece with his ability to read the situation and know wether or not it called for a quick joke, a small embrace or other distraction.
Although I love Sam and her strength and kick ass / take names attitude, it's Jack that really makes you swoon. :)

*****

Sam is tough as nails and isn't ashamed of her sex drive. She's not interested in being in a relationship not to mention love. Her messed up parent's showed her enough of what her potential future would be like if she went down the same destructive path. She will not put herself in that situation. Relationships, commitment and love, they all just lead to tears and heartbreak. She has her Firework Girls and best friend Jack. At least until he decides he no longer wants simple hook ups and starts pulling away from their friendship to pursue a relationship.

Jack may love having fun with women, but he's definitely never been IN love. But all his Firework girls are getting engaged and married and going in that direction. Except for Sam, his best friend and the best wing woman. But he can't help but thinking maybe he would be happier with the whole love, commitment, relationships and marriage thing.
While switching up his tactics for a more quality woman, he's realizing that the one woman he wants, he has no shot with. He's perplexed at these sudden feelings for Sam but he's also wondering how it took him so long to realize the beautifully broken woman in front of him.

The two are best friends. Avoiding confusing new feelings and Jack's new mature relationship is threatening to tear them apart. They both might want to cross the line, but the idea that their friendship could all fall apart in the process holds each of them back.
They each have to decide if the intense feelings they are having for the other are enough to risk it all. Their friendship. Their heart. Even if they both do feel the same way, how could they possibly succeed in something they both avoided their entire lives.
